TAMIL NADU CRICKET ASSOCIATION FOR THE BLIND

Blind Cricket

SKILL. SOUND. SHARED AMBITION.

A different way to play.
The same love of cricket.

Blind cricket brings players with different levels of vision together through sound, communication and teamwork.

Adaptations to the ball and delivery help players follow the game. Listening, timing and trust are part of every session — from first practice to competitive play.

GET TO KNOW THE GAME

Three things that shape play.

A ball you can hear

The association brochure describes a larger, hard plastic ball containing steel ball bearings. The rattling sound helps players follow it as it rolls.

An underarm delivery

Bowlers deliver underarm and use verbal cues such as “Ready?” and “Play!” to help the batter and fielders prepare for the ball.

A connected team

Eleven players contribute through batting, bowling and fielding. Clear communication and awareness help teammates coordinate their play.

UNDERSTANDING PLAYER CATEGORIES

Different vision.
One team.

Blind cricket includes B1, B2 and B3 player categories. This introductory guide uses the descriptions in TCAB’s brochure.

B1

Totally blind

Players with no functional vision.

B2

Partially blind

Described in the brochure as players with vision up to approximately 3 metres.

B3

Partially sighted

Described in the brochure as players with vision up to approximately 6 metres.

These descriptions are an introduction to the sport. Event organisers provide the applicable classification, eligibility and competition rules.
